COULD YOU BE A GUARDIAN?

The Process

About Our Guardian Program

Guardians - occasionally we will seek a guardian home for a male of female pup that we would like to breed from or with in the future - for roughly half the price and a small amount of inconvenience you could potentially become a bordoodle parent and participate in our exciting breeding program for a few years before the dog is signed over to you when they are retired. contact me for more information if you think this may be something you would like to be considered for (guardian families would need to be within SE Qld and available for up to 2 matings).

We retain the breeding rights to our guardian dogs and they are only to be used in Crossing Borders breeding program unless by prior agreement.

For a female puppy she will visit us from time to time to make sure she is familiar with our family, to be progesterone tested and to breed with a male dog. She will also need to stay with us 1 week before her litter is due and until the puppies are weaned at approximately 6 weeks. (perfect opportunity to go on a family holiday and avoid putting your girl in a kennel) Then she will return to your home and reconnect with the family (and treats) she knows and loves.

A guardian female will have no more than two litters over the course of her breeding career, and we will cover all costs associated with breeding, birthing and raising her puppies.  She will be spayed and returned to you after her last litter to live out her days happily with you.

For a male puppy we will need to take him home with us or to our vet for approved pairings several times during his breeding years. From around 18 months of age we will call on him to service one of our girls either at Crossing Borders or at a repro vet location convenient to both us and his guardian family. If within 4 years we have not called upon him we may choose take him to be collected and have his semen frozen for future use and he can be spayed and retired.

Upon the dog’s retirement, we cover the cost of having him or her spayed or neutered. Most of our breeding dogs retire near four years old, . Then they will remain in your home permanently as your beloved companion pet and real life teddy bear!

Occasionally an adult dog will become available for guardianship - please ask for details this is on a case by case basis
